Between Bodies and Worlds: Sara Blanche, Eva Lewis, Mahsa Tehrani, and Minoo Yalsohrabi
Between Bodies and Worlds brings together four women artists—Minoo Yalsohrabi, Sara Bonache Rios, Eva Lewis, and Mahsa Tehrani—whose works explore the human condition through the intimate, the symbolic, and the fantastical. Spanning across Iran, Spain, and the United States, the exhibition creates a sensorial, cross-cultural dialogue rooted in themes of femininity, transformation, and resistance.
Minoo Yalsohrabi’s mixed media works function as both visual instruction and poetic reflection, dissecting the relationships between food, objects, and the domestic space. Her series Paintings for the Kitchen and Unnumbered Pages from a Lost Recipe Book evoke the tactile choreography of cooking—where light, gesture, and material converge in a ritual of care and labor.
Sara Bonache Rios softens the boundary between the human body and nature in paintings where botanical forms blur into limbs and sensual shapes. Through metamorphosis and metaphor, her work suggests a hallucinatory intimacy between earth and spirit, body and ecosystem.
Eva Lewis, based in the American Midwest, renders vibrant portraits of young women in moments of uninhibited self-expression. Her subjects—often drawn from real-life encounters—exist in electric spaces of red light and shadow, surrounded by the objects and rituals that define their individuality. Lewis captures contemporary girlhood as both bold performance and intimate confession.
In Mahsa Tehrani’s imagined utopias, we glimpse a longing for liberation within oppressive realities. Echoing the transcendental aesthetic of Persian miniature painting and the allegorical excess of Hieronymus Bosch, her dreamlike worlds are paradoxically joyful and restrained—inhabited by figures dressed in uniform greys, yet set free within lush, surreal landscapes. These are spaces of suspended time, shaped by memory, grief, and the promise of another world.
Together, these artists illuminate how bodies—human, vegetal, spectral—move through space, resist containment, and seek new forms of becoming. Between Bodies and Worlds is a collective exploration of presence, transformation, and the quiet power of reimagining.
